I know it’s not just us. I used to think we were just EXTREMELY picky people – which is partly true. We’ve been seriously looking for a house for about a year now. I mean like stalking Zillow like it’s my full time job, hunting. The repeat visits, open houses, offers, bidding wars, accepted offers, inspections and nothing has stuck. Prices are ridiculously high right now and the houses we love are few and far between.
I don’t know about you, but finding the right house has been nearly impossible. We want something with lots of original character, modern updates, bright open spaces (but not an open floor plan), original bathrooms…. and on and on and on.
Our wish list is very specific, we’re willing to put in the work, but when houses are getting offers on day one – we just can’t compete $$$$$. That’s not to say I haven’t fallen in love with one or two of them – I have. This last one actually left me heartbroken for a week or so, and I still think about it from time to time. It felt like a bad breakup and we didn’t even get an offer in on that one!
So send me whatever encouragement you have. Tell me your stories. We need advice! Do we keep looking? What’s more important… an area with more opportunities or an area with a support system? HELP!
